Found Dead 18th July 2014
Bei Carter (49) was found dead at the Morayland Hotel on Marshall Street in Bridlington, East Yorkshire just before midnight on 18th July 2014. She was landlady of the hotel.
Humberside Police have said they want to find John Heald (53) from South Yorkshire, who was staying at the hotel, in connection with the death.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Baldwin said: “It is imperative that we locate John Heald as soon as possible and I would appeal to him to make contact with us urgently. If anyone has been contacted by Mr Heald or knows anything about his whereabouts, I would ask them to do the right thing, do not be swayed by a misguided sense of loyalty, ring the police now.”
Friend and neighbour Dave Ellis paid tribute to Ms Carter who ran the hotel with her husband Terry. He said: “Bei was a unique lady who was very friendly and always asked you to try her Chinese food. She was lovely and why someone would want to hurt her I just don’t know. She was so kind and gentle.”
Police are appealing to taxi drivers and those using buses or trains who may have seen Heald to get in touch.
DCI Baldwin said: “We believe it is likely he has left the Humberside area and may have travelled into neighbouring force areas and so we have been working closely with colleagues across the region. At this time Mr Heald remains outstanding and it is a priority for the police to locate and speak to him. I consider Mr Heald to be dangerous and members of the public should not approach him instead they should ring 999 immediately. We believe he could be looking for accommodation and so it is extremely important that any hoteliers, who are approached by him for a room, do not allow him into their premises and contact the police straight away.”
Anyone with information should contact Humberside Police on 01377 208989.
